Medical Protection Society (MPS) has outlined five commitments designed to meet the evolving needs of members healthcare professionals in Hong Kong.
The pledges focus on service excellence, extended protection, broad range of service, investment in research and continued collaboration with industry leaders and partners.
They have evolved from discussions with members, partners and industry leaders, including at last year’s celebration of MPS’s 70-years of operations in Hong Kong.
Announcing the pledges, Chief Member Officer Dr Rob Hendry, said “Our ongoing commitment to Hong Kong is built on trust, partnership and innovation. We are determined to provide healthcare professionals with the support they need to deliver exceptional care and safeguard their future in a rapidly changing healthcare landscape.
“Each of these commitments is a step towards a future where we ensure members continue to have access to the highest standard of medicolegal protection, designed around their best interests.”
The five commitments
- Service excellence
MPS is a not-for-profit organisation owned by its members, who deserve the best possible service. It will continue to invest in the staff, systems and processes to provide these seamless and high-quality services. Through a discretionary approach to indemnity, it will also continue to ensure that support is tailored to the unique challenges faced by healthcare professionals.
- Extended protection
The healthcare landscape is continually changing. MPS will continue to adapt and expand its services to reflect these changes and meet emerging demands. This has recently included announcing new policies to both extend protection for professionals working in the Greater Bay Area and make it easier for new members to transition from restricted insurance products to discretionary indemnity.
- Broad range of support
Members deserve holistic medical protection. MPS remains committed to providing comprehensive medicolegal assistance that exceeds claims management and regulatory issues. It will also maintain and evolve resources to help members learn, reduce risk by resolving problems early and care for their personal and professional wellbeing.
- Investment in research and innovation
Investing in knowledge means investing in the future. MPS Foundation will play a leading role in funding pioneering research to drive innovation in medicolegal protection. This research will have the power to enhance safety and security for healthcare professionals as they adapt to new systems, technologies and ways of working.
- Continued collaboration
Strong partnerships are essential for progress. MPS will continue to engage with members, partners and industry leaders to listen, learn and ensure that its future remain aligned with the needs of Hong Kong’s healthcare community.
