Free membership for interns and house officers

As an intern or house officer in a public hospital, your indemnity for clinical negligence claims is provided by your employer. But who’s there when you need advice, reassurance, or someone in your corner?

That’s where we come in.

At Medical Protection, we offer free membership to support you from day one. Whether a patient makes a complaint, you’re asked to attend an inquest, or you just need guidance on how to handle a difficult situation, we’re here for you.

Membership remains free during your time as an intern or house officer, and once you progress to the next stage in your career, a membership subscription applies. Don’t worry - we’ll let you know when the time comes to take the next step.

Our team of medicolegal experts is on hand to offer:

  • Advice and legal representation for Medical Council investigations, inquests, and disciplinary hearings
  • Support during criminal proceedings related to your clinical practice
  • Access to confidential counselling, including help for stress, burnout, anxiety, or workplace conflict
