Coronavirus advice for members

Service status

We are currently experiencing an increased volume of telephone calls and callers are having a longer wait than normal.
  • If your enquiry is not urgent, we ask that you please email member.help@medicalprotection.org
  • If your enquiry is urgent, please do call and we will endeavour to answer as quickly as possible.
  • Please be aware that our offices are closed until further notice, which means that we cannot receive any postal deliveries. Instead, please can you email any membership enquiries or correspondence to member.help@medicalprotection.org and any case or claim related enquiries – quoting your reference – to cases.leeds@medicalprotection.org.
We thank you for your patience.

With the continued spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), we know that this is a worrying time for everyone, but particularly for those healthcare practitioners who are providing frontline services and advice to patients. We understand your concerns and are here to offer support and advice if you need it. We also provide more guidance here and some questions and answers here.

Developments in the coronavirus situation are changing daily, and we would urge all healthcare practitioners in the UK to be aware of and follow advice from the Government website and from NHS England, particularly those healthcare providers who may have responsibility for assessing possible cases of COVID-19. The GMC have also released guidance regarding how they will regulate during the crisis.

We appreciate that practitioners may have to change how they consult with their patients during the coronavirus crisis – which could mean holding remote consultations. Please be reassured that should you need to do a remote consultation with a patient whom you would ordinarily see face-to-face, your membership with Medical Protection will enable you to request assistance for matters that could arise from such consultations during this time. We have more information regarding remote consultations (telemedicine) here
