Making the most of your first year in the NHS

Event information:

This is Medical Protection’s first in a series of specially-tailored live events for IMGs, and includes speakers who are medical experts, who work with IMGs, and who have experienced the process themselves.

Your questions answered by the experts

Whether you’re planning to work in the UK, or you’ve made the move recently, you probably have lots of questions. It’s an exciting and challenging time. Medical Protection is here to help guide you and provide the support you need.

We understand that doctors who have qualified overseas continuing their medical careers in the UK may have different questions and challenges when setting in to the NHS compared to many UK graduates.

At Medical Protection we are committed to working with our specialist partners to protect you and prepare you for the challenges ahead.

In this hour-long panel event, our speakers describe what it’s like to plan and move to the UK for work, and share some helpful hints and tips.

Topics include:

Making the move

The excitement and challenges, passing PLAB, registering with the GMC, finding you first position in the UK, and planning the big move.

What to expect in your first weeks and months

There’s lots to get used to and you need to give yourself the time to adjust to a new environment. Feeling more tired initially is to be expected, and we discuss the importance of being kind to yourself.

Q&A session

There were lots of questions asked during the session and unfortunately we were unable to get to them all. We’re working through them and will let you know as soon as we’ve published our answers.
