Dr Pallavi Bradshaw, Medical Director at Medical Protection, said:

"The mountain of pressure points revealed in this report is unsustainable and data showing more than one in five doctors are likely to leave the profession is particularly alarming. More must be done to tackle them and create working environments in which doctors can deliver safe and high quality care before we face a mass exodus of practitioners essential for the running of the NHS.

“The report shows encouraging signs that some doctors are using AI and other digital tools to reduce their administrative burden and create more time for patients. However, AI and other technology are only part of the solution and with the AI liability gap, doctors remain at risk when the technology goes wrong.”
