Brian Caldwell-White

Case Manager

Brian is a case manager at Medical Protection, which he has been since 2018, after joining Medical Protection in 2014 with a background in civil law. Brian provides expert advice and assistance to our UK and Ireland members on medicolegal issues, support members on complaint handling, reviewing reports that members have been requested to supply on topics ranging from Police witness statements to Serious Untoward Incident reviews, and also reviewing statements that the Coroner has requested our members provide them. Having six years’ experience delivering legal advice, as either an advocate or legal representative, on matters ranging from simple disputes over faulty consumer goods to complicated legal arguments around Insolvency Laws and Scottish Land Law, and also running a successful and respected Court Duty Desk for Barnsley County Court`s housing possession and repossession list, Brian decided to pursue a career with Medical Protection. After working on Medical Protection`s successful member review team since joining Medical Protection in 2014, Brian decided that he would like to use his legal experience to pursue a career in medical law and ethics, and decided to start working towards obtaining a CILEx qualification, with a view to becoming a Chartered Legal Executive (FILEx). Brian is also working to obtain his Diploma in Legal Medicine, to further help our members deal with increasingly complex matters, that are detracting them from their main roles as clinicians.

Brian’s experiences in civil law, coupled with not being clinically trained, allows him to approach matters as an educated layperson and support members in a manner that compliments his clinically trained colleagues and therefore can offer a much more holistic service to our members.
