Dr Ewen Ross
LLM, MBChB, BSc Hons, DGM, MRCGP
After graduating from Edinburgh University Medical School in 2002, Ewen worked as a junior doctor in anaesthetics and intensive care, amongst others. He intended a career in anaesthesia, but after achieving his CCT in General Practice and MRCGP he became a GP locum, securing a partnership in Derbyshire.
Ewen joined Medical Protection as a full time Medicolegal Consultant (MLC) in 2014. After obtaining a Master of Laws (LLM) in Medical Law and Ethics from Leicester De Montfort Law School he became a Medicolegal Consultant (MLC) in the Case Management Team based at Medical Protection’s Leeds office.
Dr Jane Sturgess
Dr Jane Sturgess is a consultant anaesthetist interested in complications, medicolegal aspects of clinical practice and education. She holds a Royal College of Anaesthetists Trainer Award and runs seminars through the Association of Anaesthetists focusing on complications and emergencies.
Jane is helping to update national guidance for anaesthetists on ‘second victim’ and as the lead for Learning from Deaths she chairs the Consent Over-View group in her Trust. Having become HEE associate dean for faculty development, Jane creates and delivers strategies to enhance the training and career development of educators. She also designs valuable Medical Protection workshops.
