CLAIMS ASSISTANTS

We are recruiting for Claims Assistants, to join us on a permanent contract, with all roles based in our Leeds office. We are currently recruiting for two departments.

The Claims Delivery department is part of the Operations division. The department comprises multi-disciplinary teams with the right level and balance of claims handling, clinical input, professional and administrative support resources, required to deliver a world class claims management service to MPS members.

Duties to include:

  • To review and analyse all records, reports and other data provided by members to enable there to be an accurate evaluation of legal and clinical issues
  • Triage the new matters and CAT dashboard to proactively identify cases that need immediate attention or a prioritised response (e.g. proceedings, complaints, wrong cases types etc.) and escalate these to the appropriate CAT team member for action
  • Prepare information ready for review and decision making by CAT clinical and legal team
  • Liaise with members and other third parties on behalf of the CAT clinical and legal team to obtain missing documentation, and to ensure deadlines for return of this information are met
  • To ensure data integrity and completion of missing data within the CRM system where appropriate
  • Comply with applicable professional ethical guidance and all relevant internal rules, policy and procedures, including those relating to Health and Safety, Data Protection, IT Security and all those contained within the issued Staff Handbook
  • To deliver team and individual targets to ensure they are consistently met and exceeded in accordance with MPS Delivering Exceptional Staff (DES)

The Claims Policy and Technical department is part of the Professional Services Division. The department delivers a claims management function in all Regional claims, all England and Wales claims valued in excess of £500,000 and provides technical advice, resource and governance to enable and support the delivery of a world class claims management service to MPS members.

Duties to include:

  • Review and analyse all records, reports and other data provided by members to produce and continually update a detailed chronology of medical and procedural issues for each case
  • Triage new post on handler dashboards to proactively identify cases that need immediate attention or a prioritised response (e.g. proceedings, other case types etc.) and escalate these to the appropriate team member for action
  • Liaise with members and other third parties on behalf of the pathway team to obtain missing documentation, and to ensure deadlines for return of this information are met
  • Preparation of statements and attendance notes following proofing meetings and Conferences with Counsel
  • Identify experts, draft instructions and prepare bundles under supervision of legal handler
  • To ensure data integrity and completion of missing data within the CRM system where appropriate
  • To deliver team and individual targets to ensure they are consistently met and exceeded in accordance with MPS Delivering Exceptional Staff (DES)
  • Comply with applicable professional ethical guidance and all relevant internal and external rules, policy and procedures, including those relating to Health and Safety, Data Protection, IT Security and all those contained within the issued Staff Handbook.  Adheres to the business rules relevant to the role, which are subject to change from time to time

For both roles, candidates must possess the following:

  • Good communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to investigate and analyse information containing both legal, medical or dental terminology
  • Integrity and respect for people of all roles and backgrounds with the ability to gain the trust and respect of colleagues and external contacts
  • Awareness of when to escalate for further guidance
  • Understanding of the litigation protocols and civil procedure rules.

Ideally, you will be educated to degree standard or shall have a relevant professional qualification, coupled with the experience listed above.
