What are face-to-face workshops?

In person

Lectures and discussions

Earn CPD

Our face-to-face workshops feature short presentations, reflective exercises, and small group-facilitated discussions around a variety of topical risk management subjects and issues.

Attendees are encouraged to actively engage in the conversations and activities throughout the workshops to enhance their learning and positively impact interactions with their patients and colleagues.

It is easy and convenient to participate in our face-to-face workshops:

With a choice of venues nationwide, you can network with your peers in person.

Our face-to-face workshops

We are currently only offering very limited numbers of face-to-face workshops and therefore you may not find anything available to book at this time. If you are looking for a live event, you may find more availability within our webinar and virtual workshops which are running on a more regular basis.

Your frequently asked questions

  • Do I get a reduced subscription rate if I participate in face-to-face workshops?
    22 November 2022

Not at present. Our range of clinician-led professional development training (included in your membership) is designed to reduce your risk, better protect your career, and improve patient outcomes.

  • Can I just turn up to attend a face-to-face workshop on the day?
    25 August 2022

All in-person workshop places are limited and it’s not possible for the workshop presenters to cater for members who do not book a place in advance.

  • I can't attend any of the face-to-face workshops. Can you send me the course materials instead or make them available online?
    25 August 2022

The course materials are only an addition to the face-to-face workshop and not a replacement for it. They don’t contain the videos, exercises or speaker’s notes that are vital parts of learning. This means the course materials are only for those who attend and can’t be sent out or made available online.

  • I can't join until after the face-to-face workshop has started. Can I still have my CPD points?
    25 August 2022

If you believe that you’re going to be late, we’d recommend that you register on another date. The introduction to each session is important for the messages later. Most colleges require proof from us that you’ve attended the complete workshop and may take into consideration any discrepancies between attendance-register records and time claimed.

  • Why am I unable to book a place on a face-to-face workshop?
    25 August 2022

Our in-person workshops are extremely popular, and with limited spaces available they can book out within a very short time. Members are encouraged to log in to our online learning hub regularly to see what professional development courses are available and secure their place on any of interest.

  • If I cancel my attendance at a face-to-face workshop, will I be penalised?
    25 August 2022

If you give us notice or if an emergency arises (either private or patient) we won’t charge you. However, we do reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee to attendees who don’t contact us about their inability to attend (before or after the event), particularly if this happens on more than one occasion.

  • Is there a charge for car parking when attending a face-to-face workshop?
    25 August 2022

Medical Protection won’t charge you for parking. However, the venue where the workshop is being held may charge a fee to use their car park (if available). This is at the discretion of the venue, so we advise you to check before you travel.

  • Do you reimburse travel expenses?
    25 August 2022

We don’t, because we believe that most members would agree that the reimbursement of other members’ travel expenses isn’t a good way to use their funds.
