WHO declares post-pandemic status for H1N1
10 Aug 2010
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced that the H1N1 virus has “largely run its course” and it is moving into the post-pandemic period.
The announcement was made by the Emergency Committee, which based its assessment on the global situation.
However, it reiterates that the H1N1 virus has not gone away and urges health professionals to be aware that it is likely to remain in circulation – probably at the same level as a typical seasonal influenza virus – for a number of years to come.
