MPS – offering advice when you need it

Our medicolegal advice service is open to members with urgent queries and medicolegal emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

If you encounter such an emergency please call: 0845 605 4000.

Each year we receive more than 18,000 calls from members seeking help in resolving specific problems.

If you are in any doubt over a legal issue we would encourage you to get in touch and ask our advice. There is no stigma attached, and we would rather you asked now and avoid a problem, rather than hope for the best and find yourself in difficulties later.

Please note: If sending a query by email, please do not include any personal information about patients, in the interests of confidentiality.

Medicolegal talks

All our in-house advisers have practised clinical medicine and have received legal training. They regularly visit medical schools throughout the UK and Ireland to talk to medical students about the sorts of dilemmas that they may face once qualified. If you would like to arrange a talk at your medical school please contact us.
