GMC tightens rules on student behaviour
10 September 2007
The GMC and the Medical Schools Council have launched new regulations on what is expected of medical students.
The guidance:
- sets out the professional behaviour expected of students, and
- guides medical schools on fair and consistent fitness to practise procedures.
The new regulations amalgamate changes to the Medical Act 1983, which state that all medical students must prove their fitness to practise before they provisionally register as doctors.
The guidance covers areas such as teaching, misconduct, and education, and incorporates Duties of a Doctor, the MSC Medical School Charter and the 2006 version of Good Medical Practice.
