CQC consults on human rights guidance
22 Sep 2010
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has launched a consultation on new equality and human rights guidance.
Working with the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), the CQC will use responses to the consultation to create guidance for inspectors and assessors to use when monitoring providers against existing CQC standards and registration requirements.
The guidance will be used to help ensure human rights issues are embedded within the CQC’s essential standards of quality and care.
The guidance will feature:
- An overview of how the CQC’s standards relate to equality and human rights law
- What inspectors and assessors should do if they think CQC equality standards have been breached
- Information about equality and human rights for each of the main parts of its essential standards.
The consultation will close on 12 November 2010.
