The Confidentiality talk was really useful and brilliantly presented

The sessions currently available are:

The importance of maintaining Patient Confidentiality

In a recent MPS study outlining the most common risks found in GP practice, 95% of practices had risks associated with maintaining confidentiality. Keeping confidence is vital in establishing the trust of patients. This interactive session for all practice staff:

• Explains the importance of confidentiality
• Explains the responsibilities of staff
• Raises awareness of current government policies relating to confidentiality
• Assists participants to identify where a possible breach of confidentiality could occur and discusses how to reduce these risks.

It includes a practical exercise where staff work together as a team to review and discuss case studies related to confidentiality.

GP Risky Business

Creating a safe and quality environment for patients and staff is of paramount importance. Understanding where there is potential for risks within general practice, can assist practices to reduce harm to patients.

MPS Educational Services deliver Clinical Risk Self Assessments to general practices across the country and by analysing their data have identified the most common risks in general practice. The interactive session shares with practices they key risk areas and the impact they can have.

This is a good introduction to risk management that involves the whole practice. There will also be time to discuss any questions with your GP account executive.

Patient care training

This session highlights the importance of good patient care and assists staff in how to improve the patients’ experience. It provides all members of the practice team with useful tips on being patient centred and improving service as a result of patient feedback. It also:
• Demonstrates the importance of ‘first impressions’
• Explains the elements of good customer care
• Provides case studies highlighting factors contributing to the risk of violent and aggressive patients.

Consent

This interactive one hour training session, suitable for all practice staff, emphasises the importance of the issues and policies surrounding patient consent in general practice. Revolving around an enjoyable quiz format participants will actively engage with the consent process to acquire a greater understanding of consent issues. It:

• Explains what constitutes valid consent
• Examines the use of consent forms for procedures in general practice
• Explains the impact of The Mental Capacity Act and other legal and statutory requirements on consent
