Working in a practice setting

You may be expected to work far more autonomously than you will have been used to in hospital. GP registrars have told us that they often feel very vulnerable working in a GP setting for the first time.

"When you are in the room, you are on your own."

Your GP trainer should be close at hand to offer you advice and assistance should you need it. However, don't forget the medicolegal support that is also available to you as an MPS member. You can talk through your problem with a medicolegal adviser (the majority of whom have experience of working in general practice).

Don't forget that in an emergency this advice is available 24 hours a day.
