Communication Skills

Welcome to the new-look edition of GP Registrar – in this issue we look at communication problems and ways of avoiding them. Being able to communicate effectively is one of the most important skills for a GP. Good communication will also make you more effective in dealing with problems – whether with patients or other healthcare professionals. Over 71% of you already find that GP Registrar helps with your training.

Following our recent member research survey, GP Registrar now includes a revised AKT question section to help with your MRCGP exams. As a former GP, I understand how crucial it is to maintain positive relationships with patients – and how central good communication is to the doctor–patient relationship.
