The right choice because we put members first

MPS is the right choice for foundation doctors. We are committed to providing you with professional support and expert advice throughout your career. You can turn to fellow professionals with unrivalled specialist medicolegal experience who provide confidential, individual, expert advice 24/7.

In 2011 more than fifty foundation doctors were referred to the GMC for fitness to practice issues, more than double the number in 2010 and 2009. This is just one example of the support your medical defence organisation can provide, and illustrates the importance of having access to this throughout your career.

NHS indemnity
As a doctor working in an NHS hospital you will benefit from NHS indemnity to cover the cost of claims. However, NHS indemnity usually provides little or no support for the individual doctor and NHS indemnity will not protect you against other risks to your professional practice, making it essential that you have membership of a medical defence organisation in order to secure your peace of mind.
