Arrange an educational talk for your meeting
MPS takes an active role in promoting good medical practice and minimising the risk of clinical mishaps. We provide a number of free educational initiatives to support the medical profession in delivering high quality care.
Our medicolegal advisers lecture widely at both national and local events on legal and ethical issues of importance to junior doctors and consultants in each specialty. We provide medicolegal and ethical supporting material, including specialty specific cases and guidelines and these are tailored to each event.
We can provide speakers, not only for seminars and conferences, but also for departmental meetings and junior doctor and GP training sessions. You can request a speaker online; just tell us about your event and we will do our best to help.

We have a dedicated team who work within the UK and Ireland to provide informal sessions and talks on medicolegal issues.

Keeping medical records
Keeping good clinical records is essential for continuity of care, especially where many clinicians are involved in delivering care. Good record keeping is an integral part of good medical practice.
If a doctor is faced with any legal problems as a result of their practice, a patient’s notes will be the foundation of their defence.

Consent
Taking consent is a key concept for all hospital doctors and we have developed our session to meet the needs of junior doctors.
The session includes case scenarios and addresses the fundamental elements of consent. In addition it helps raise awareness of the medicolegal implications of consent for your professional practice.

Professionalism and Accountability
How you act as you go about your duties as a doctor – and also in the course of your personal life – is essential to the job you do.This talk highlights how professionalism applies to doctors.
