Communications Courses & Workshops

Mastering Your Risk 
Provides a thorough grounding in the issues surrounding risk management and introduces practical and preventive techniques that improve communication skills and patient satisfaction.

Mastering Adverse Outcomes
Provides powerful training in the effective and ethical management of patient care following a serious adverse outcome. Using clinical scenarios and the MPS ASSIST© model for handling adverse outcomes, this workshop gives participants the confidence to formulate a personal effective and ethical response to this most challenging of clinical situations.

Safer Clinical Practice
The aim of this team-based workshop is to enhance safety within medical teams by improving the way teams work together. During this two-part, full day workshop, you will develop an understanding of the causes of errors and in particular the benefits of effective communication between team members and the skills to avoid, trap and mitigate errors.

Mastering Shared Decision Making
Available from late 2010
This workshop examines why the ‘share decision making’ model is being advanced as an effective way to ensure that patients make wise, appropriate and informed choices about healthcare options available to them. It provides sound theoretical and practical grounding for the busy doctor in utilising the model in their daily work.

Assists participants to connect principles with practice and answer those basic questions about clinical governance and risk management.

Mastering Medical Records In Primary Care
Available from 2010
Complete, contemporaneous and well organised records are essential for good medical practice. The aim of this workshop is to improve the skills in making and keeping quality medical records.

Medication Errors In Primary Care
Available from 2010
Outlines common reasons for medication errors in primary care, including repeat prescribing, communication and monitoring problems, and discusses risk management strategies to enhance patient safety.
