Dr Priya Singh's trip to Malaysia

In February 2009, the Medical Protection Society's Medical Director Dr Priya Singh spent six days in Malaysia giving talks at medical centres and meeting various members and stakeholders.

Dr Singh’s first appointment was at the Medicolegal and Ethics Seminar at the University of Malaysia Medical Centre (UMMC) on Wednesday 25 February, where she took part in a lively Q&A session with over 120 doctors and nurses.

Dr Priya Singh went on to speak at another medicolegal seminar at Putrajaya Hospital, with MPS’s Head of Medical Services (Asia) Dr Ming Teoh. Dr Singh delivered a presentation on Breaking Bad News while Dr Teoh spoke on Managing Medical Mishaps to over 250 delegates.

Next on the agenda was a tour of the Sunway Medical Centre, a large private hospital which is also a teaching hospital for Sunway University. Dr Priya Singh and Dr Ming Teoh also met with the minister of health in Malaysia, where they took time to discuss MPS and its professional support services for doctors.

From Malaysia, Dr Priya Singh went on to New Zealand where she spent a week meeting stakeholders and also attended the New Zealand panel meeting.
