Vol. 15 no. 2 - May 2007

Welcome to the latest edition of Casebook, which comes to you with a fresh look and feel.
The new MPS identity is evolutionary rather than revolutionary, updating our strong heritage with a more contemporary element. Our values and ethos are unchanged, but the redesign has given us the opportunity to align the identities of the MPS group of companies (MPS, Dental Protection, MPS Risk Consulting and MPS Risk Solutions) reflecting the relationship between different parts of the organisation as a whole.
The changes are reflected on our website too, which is now more interactive, making it easier to find the information you need at the click of a mouse.
In this issue Dr John Hickey, who retires from his post as chief executive this year, reflects on his 22 years’ experience at MPS – a time that has seen many changes for the organisation and the medical profession. Whilst his departure heralds a change in leadership for MPS, our purpose and mutual principles, and our commitment to service, remain constant.
In addition to providing the highest standard of service, MPS aims to provide educational products that support you in reducing the risk of harm to patients. As John mentions in his article, this is an increasingly important area, and one where the materials we are producing are evolving to meet your needs. We are developing more CD-ROMs and web-based materials to provide a more interactive way of learning, complementing our other publications.
As always, I welcome your feedback and hope you find that this edition is practical, informative and interesting.
Dr Stephanie Bown
Editor-in-chief, MPS Director of Education and Communications
