Time limits for making a complaint
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
Six months from the date on which the event leading to the complaint occurred or six months from becoming aware of it. The complaint should be made within 12 months of the original event, but if the practice is satisfied that there were good reasons for the delay and that the complaint can still be investigated, it can still accept the complaint beyond the 12 month deadline.
England
Twelve months from either the date on which the event occurred or the complainant becoming aware of a cause for complaint. The time limit can be waived if the practice is satisfied that the complainant had good reasons for the delay and the complaint can still be investigated.
