We are recruiting for a Data Scientist to work as part of our Risk team in Leeds.
The purpose of this role is to assist the Actuarial and Pricing teams with our global technical pricing strategy, achieved by performing data mining and analysis techniques. The successful candidate will work across the organisation as part of our wider Risk department and also have responsibility for developing new rating factors and strategies via multivariate analysis.
You’ll need to have experience in data mining and analysis techniques, coupled with the ability to then influence and drive change across the business from the resulting insights gathered. You will be experienced at developing, maintaining and documenting multivariate models (SPSS) or generalised liner models (GLM) along with developing data warehousing and subsidiary analytical systems.
This role will also see the successful incumbent act as a mentor to junior analysts and be seen as a subject matter expert within the department.
Preferably you will possess a Numerical or Statistics degree and must have operated in a similar role previously, coupled with demonstrable experience of driving change within an organisation. You will have experience using advanced statistical software, ideally SPSS Modeller and be proficient with VBA and Microsoft Access. Knowledge of SQL or SAS is a distinct advantage
Candidates must have excellent influencing and negotiation skills, coupled with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders at various levels throughout the organisation.
