Medicine is an increasingly mobile profession, with doctors travelling the world to work. Students often use the opportunity of their elective to experience medicine in a different country.
MPS is the world’s leading mutual medical defence organisation. We have members in more than 40 countries, so if you decide to work overseas, membership can be arranged easily. It is one less thing to worry about.
The main jurisdictions where MPS has members besides South Africa are New Zealand, Ireland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Kenya, the Caribbean and Bermuda and the UK. However, we do have smaller numbers of members in other countries, so it is often possible to continue your membership, even in unlikely places, for example if you are doing voluntary work overseas.
There are some notable countries where we do not offer permanent membership – particularly the USA and Canada.
