New rules to report misuse of drugs
24 Nov 2011
Doctors are being urged to use a new system of reporting concerns regarding any colleagues who are misusing drugs.
The Ministry of Health (MOH), along with the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), has developed eNOTIF – an online reporting system to bring to justice any medical professional they suspect of inappropriately taking drugs, which contravenes Regulation 19 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The eNOTIF system automatically notifies the CNB and Director of Medical Services when a report is submitted, meaning doctors are no longer obliged to contact the bodies directly.
The system was launched earlier this year, and has replaced the previous method of posting concerns to the CMB or MOH.
Doctors can access eNOTIF in two ways:
- Clicking on the eNOTIF icon at the CNB website
- Logging on to the eNOTIF system directly.
