False doctors warned over titles

25 Jul 2008

Practitioners of treatments such as acupuncture, osteopathy and chiropractic have been warned not to adopt the false title of "doctor".

A study in the New Zealand Medical Journal found that there were a number of practitioners calling themselves "doctor", despite there being no evidence that they were registered medics.

It was also found that such cases occurred "significantly more often" among chiropractics.
