Praise for A&E departments

Accident and Emergency departments across the country have come in for praise from the Minister for Health, David Cunliffe, after latest performance reports showed swift treatment times.

The Hospital Benchmark Information (HBI) reports revealed that patients with urgent, life-threatening conditions were receiving immediate treatment – with Auckland, Canterbury and Counties Manukau District Health Boards (DHBs) coming in for particular praise.

Mr Cunliffe said: “This is also heartening as these DHBs have some of our largest and busiest emergency departments. They have all been working hard to improve the efficiency of their services recently and this work is seeing results for patients.”
