Duty before profit, doctors told

Doctors have been warned to put "duty before profit" when making decisions on treating patients, according to the New Straits Times.

The advice comes from Datuk Dr Khoo Kah Lin, president of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA), who says that doctors should be guided by their clinical expertise and not insurance companies.

Former Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek has also raised concerns over insurance companies restricting tests conducted by doctors, while Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) president Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said the council had received complaints about exorbitant hospital costs.
