Staff get needle protection

A new scheme has been agreed that will offer comprehensive protection to healthcare staff at risk of needle exposure.

Exposure-prone procedures (EPPs) involve the treatment of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, and the new scheme will see affected staff screened and offered immunisations.

It follows an agreement being reached by the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) and the Health Service Executive (HSE).
