Curriculum overhaul planned for postgraduates

An overhaul of postgraduate medical education and training has been announced by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI).

Changes to the General Professional Training (GPT) programme include a reworking of the curriculum, the introduction of competence assessment and access to the RCPI Online Medical Education Centre.

The changes, announced by RCPI President Dr John Donohoe, are expected to be introduced for trainees starting the GPT programme in July 2008.
