Call for end-of-life co-ordinators
18 February 2008
The Irish Hospice Foundation has called for the introduction of "end-of-life co-ordinators" to Irish hospitals, reports Medicine Weekly.
The IHF, a not-for-profit organisation that promotes the hospice philosophy and supports the development of hospice/palliative care, has set up the Hospice Friendly Hospitals Programme to improve the culture and care surrounding death and bereavement in hospitals in Ireland.
One of those improvements is the introduction of specialists to help develop services for dying patients.
