HA welcomes consultation on healthcare reform
02 Feb 2011
The Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA) has welcomed the government’s consultation document on healthcare reform – My Health My Choice.
HA Chairman, Mr Anthony Wu, said that following the release of the document in October 2010, the HA Board set up a working group to study the proposals and formulate a response before the end of the public consultation period, which closed on 7 January 2011.
The main focus of the working group was to examine implications of the proposed Health Protection Scheme (HPS) as well as to review the progress of, and the HA’s ongoing support in, the various service reform initiatives undertaken by the government since 2008.
Mr Wu said: “In general, we welcome the proposed introduction of the HPS, being a voluntary, standardised and government-regulated private health insurance scheme to provide the public with better customer protection and choices.”
The government says it will release the results of the consultation in due course.
