Ethics modules
This set of 12 modules provides a useful overview of the ethical principles that frame modern healthcare.
The series focuses on the practical consequences of the ethical dilemmas that clinicians face on a daily basis. The modules do not give a detailed theoretical foundation, but instead look at how ethical principles can be applied to common problems.
The modules also aim to encourage the serious consideration of a subject that too often gets lost in the pressures of practice. The ability to deal with ethical questions from first principles is vital if, in this day and age, doctors are to practise ethically.
MPS ethics modules are intended as a resource for students and those who teach them. They will also be of interest to doctors who, during their career, would like to refresh their own understanding of this complex and fascinating subject.
The modules provide general overviews of the topics and should not be relied upon as definitive guidance. If you are an MPS member, and you are facing an ethical or legal dilemma, call and ask to speak to a medicolegal adviser, who will give you specific advice.
